And you did an exquisite job! I wish we as a people had the vision to know this is possible, and that the outcome would be so positive and healing! I wish we as a people would be accepting of other's choice to be who they are without judgment. This should be as natural as puberty, getting braces, getting a driver's license. I think back to major mile markers I achieved in my youth, and I was excited to check things off my to-do list. Some things were hard, and some things took a long time and were painful, but I had my parents and siblings and teachers and coaches and directors and church leaders helping me all along the way. I'm the person I am today because of all the people who helped and loved me along the way. Being trans was not on my to-do list, but I'm confident my parents would have loved and supported me, even though they may have not agreed with what I was doing. They would be on board now in 2024 (but they are deceased), but can you imagine what our world would be like if our youth (and others) had the love and support of others as they transitioned--unconditionally?! I have that vision! People like you are paving the way for others.❤

Amanda, please be aware that 21st century, western ideas of gender are different from tribal ideas of gender. We in the west subscribe to an individualistic view of gender, while tribal cultures subscribe to a social view of gender. So the “third gender” that we hear about in history was a social (ie tribal) construct, very much different from today’s individualistic 21st century idea of “I am telling you what I am, so therefore you must perceive me as such” Pleas use caution.
